Year-end

Serene descent, as a red leaf's descending

When there is neither wind nor noise of rain,

But only autumn air and the unending

Drawing of all things to the earth again.

So be it, let the snow fall deep and cover

All that was drunken once with light and air.

The earth will not regret her tireless lover,

Nor he awake to know she does not care.

Something interesting

Found something interesting on Youtube. Actually, there's lots of interesting things to watch on Youtube. Lately, I've been using it to watch Japanese variety shows that feature famous Japanese stars. It's really great when I find ones already with English subtitles. But anyhoo...back to what I found:

It's a fan-made video featuring (1) the music of Disney's Beauty and the Beast song called "The Mob Song" - you know, the one where they sing "kill the beast!" and (2) video clips from one of my all-time favorite japanese anime movies - Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

It's amazing how the song and lyrics match what's shown in the video clips. Take a look:

In other news...

Corbin is a month old already. I wish I was there in person, or vice-versa, to see that boy grow. Here's a vid that Chet took and posted on the 'net for us:

Isn't he SO CUTE??? According to Chet, it appears that Corbin may be trying to be a bigger boy than he actually is. He suffered a bad cold recently, and when developmentally assessed, the doctor thought he was a 2 month old, instead of the 1 month old that he is. His growth is amazing. That's our Boogie Man #2 ^_^

And speaking of Boogie Men...

Our Boogie Man #1 is 7 years old already!

Justin never ceases to amaze me. Every week that he stays over here at the house, I learn new things about him - things that I never thought he knew, things that I never thought he would say, things that I never thought he could do - the boy is full of surprises!

I guess just seeing him for one day out of seven days is my disadvantage - but then, also...it made me wonder - have I really been looking? Have I really been paying attention to him? On the one day that he does spend time here, I'm mostly at work - but when I'm not at work - when I'm home and he's home too - do I really observe his growth? I think for the most part, I don't. I guess that's why when I do look more carefully at him, I am so stunned. What have I been missing all this time, that's made this boy the way he has turned out to be right now? Or do kids really grow exponentially in such short amounts of time?

But still, one thing about Justin remains the same - as always, he's got nothing but Hotwheels on the brain :-P I really turned the boy into a fanatic. I wouldn't be surprised if his love of Hotwheels continued for the rest of his lifetime. Val and I were thinking about it - he outgrew his Toys phase, his Alvin and the Chipmunks phase, his Cars phase, and his Thomas and Friends phase. Hotwheels has been around during all of these phases - and it's the only one that's lasted so far. Granted, he still talks about those other things every now and then - but the subject he most likes, or should I say, LOVES, is the subject he never tires talking about - and that's Hotwheels :-D

Justin loves this song from Hotwheels Acceleracers. I sometimes catch him singing the chorus ^_^
